Doing the #alsicebucketchallenge was fun and all, but at the end of the day this is what it’s all about. Always remember the cause! I didn’t donate much (remember I’m a #BrokeCollegeStudent living #TheStruggle 😂😂😂) but I donated what I can. You should too! (If you can, of course)
We’re not people really. Our concerns are not America’s concerns. We are just here for entertainment. We’re a convenient treasure trove of limitless creativity to be pillaged, watered down, and re-purposed for White audiences and the people getting rich from bastardized stereotypes and simplified caricatures of everything we bring to the table have nothing to say when shit gets really real.
I find it really funny how us as a Black/African-American community (in general) can be so………two-faced. We will sit here and call each other “Nigga” or “My Niggaz” (referring to friends and family), but are ready to call someone racist when a white man or woman uses the same “term of endearment”. We stand by quietly as Black/African-American gangbangers kill our own in the streets (thanks to 90% of the rappers out today that promote the ignorance) and won’t raise an eyebrow, but are ready and able to “stand up and protest” when the police or a white man kill one of our own for nothing at all. Don’t you all see what is going on?! I keep saying this over and over again, they will NEVER respect us until WE respect us. Stop being out in the streets, on Instagram, on Facebook, on Twitter, etc. acting the fool! Show a little respect for yourself and your race/ethnicity and maybe others will too. Don’t get me wrong though, I AM, IN NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM justifying what happened to Michael Brown, Mya Aaten-White, or anyone else that has been a victim of police brutality and murder. These policemen think they are some kind of God the way they wave their firearms around and take/harm the lives of innocent people. And then the media assists them by trying to portray the [fallen] victim as some kind of not-so-innocent victim to help the police save face. IT’S JUST NOT RIGHT. It’s a shame that I cannot walk outside and feel like I am NOT at risk. I am afraid for my younger siblings, I am deathly afraid for my little brothers. I’m afraid for my family. I’m afraid for MYSELF. But as I keep saying, THE CHANGE STARTS WITH US. They will not respect us until we do. I do my part every. single. day. I don’t use the “N”, I carry myself a different way, I stand up for what I believe in, I watch what I put on social media, I SPEAK ABOUT IT AND ON IT. Most of you don’t do that and THAT is why we are in the position we are in DAILY. It’s time to wake up, people. So what will YOU do? The sad part is, most of you all will forget about “the cause” next week when Bobby Shmurda or someone wack like that releases a new song 😒😒😒😒😒😔😔😔😡😡 #BETHECHANGEYOUWANTTOSEEHAPPEN #DontShoot #RIPMichaelBrown #JusticeforMichael
